Thanks To Hostgator For Great Support And Fast Turnup

We all have our chosen hosting providers and for sometime I used multiple different ones but about a year ago I started moving all of my sites to Hostgator. I did this after having horrendous support experiences at other hosting companies.
Although I know that Hostgator may not always be the cheapest in the whole scheme of things the difference in price was minimal, so many of the cheap hosting providers were of questionable background or the support was known to be pathetic at times. Cheapest is not always good.
Well, this past week Hostgator justified my decision to move all of my hosting to them, we had planned to add additional servers early next year but mid-week the traffic to our sites along with our customers started putting the servers we had close enough to peak capacity that we started to see significant performance issues.
My first thought was dang, now I have to pull my plans in and do the server upgrades now. My second thought was, is that really a bad thing : ) I guess the good thing is we had already planned to do it so we knew what we had to do once we had more servers in place.
So, first thing I have to give Hostgator kudos for is that between the time I told them I had an issue and needed a reboot and the time they reboot started was less than a 10 minute time period. Now, considering I never even had to make a phone call and the response from them was actually intelligent and they acted immediately I have to say their support was great. In the past I have had issues they have responded just as quickly too, just never this major.
For reference though, with other hosting providers I have actually had to wait 24 hours to receive a response just saying they were investigating and then another 12 hours before they actually did anything. This was back when iFones.com was actually first being launched and the traffic was skyrocketing, I wanted all that traffic but the hosting provider at the time just could not move fast enough.
With Hostgator I have not had that problem.
Second kudos to them, and this one may be even better, typically when we have ordered additional dedicated servers from Hostgator it can take a day or two before they are ready (I have had it take 48 hours for a VPS elsewhere) but in this case due to our urgent need they actually had the additional server ready in less than 2 hours. We were able to get things moved off of the current servers and onto the new one in less than a day and can now optimize this weekend.
So once again, Hostgator acted quickly for us and got us moving. Sure there are affiliate links in this post but this post is based on my experience dealing with countless hosting providers and finally finding one that supported me in a timely (and intelligent, which is hard to find) manner.

You sure dropped your affiliate link in there enough. If you so happy you should write post without trying to make money but out of sincere appreciation. Maybe there are other motives.
Sure I put it in there, I admitted that, but it is sincere appreciation. They made a potentially crappy situation good, that is the reason for the post, but if I am going to link to them sure I will use my affiliate link, why would I not?
Should I just link to them without the affiliate link?
Do I hope someone buys from them, sure! But at the same time you have never seen me do a review or comment on other hosting providers simply because I have had horrendous luck with many of them out there due to lack of support.
Why would someone not use an affiliate link if they have one when pointing to a company they are talking about?
“Why would someone not use an affiliate link if they have one when pointing to a company they are talking about?”
Because it makes you look biased
@Jacob – I get that part, LOL
But I am biased, I like their service.
I actually took all other affiliate banners for hosting providers off my blog sometime back because I only wanted to support the one I used.
Sorry if affiliate links offend:) But the post still stands, they did great, I only use them now, I have had really crappy service elsewhere…..
I’ve been with hostgator for about 2 and a half years now. I’ve never had any problems. And their support/customer service is second to none.
@Josh – Thanks. You are correct, as someone who has had multiple hosting partners for the past several years and the moved to just one I can speak from experience. They have been as good as it gets.
As I said above, sure the links are affiliates, but why would they not be, if I was gonna link to them anyway, wouldn’t I use the affiliate links instead of direct links.
Thanks for the support Josh, much appreciated.
Don’t be too hard with bruce, everybody can tell hostgator are really awesome.
You definitively have the right to put an affiliate banner =]
Thanks Vincent.
Did you ever think it would be a) bad to say good things about a company, and b) actually use an affiliate link instead of a direct link.
I never realized it was not legal to make money with a blog. I guess Shoemoney and John Chow have it all wrong:)
Your blog.
Write whatever you want.
End-o-story.
So very true:)
OK Bruce – I was just looking for a new VPS setup. And here you deliver it on a platter! SO will I use YOUR link instead of going solo? Hell yes! Why not?!
Why wouldn’t I want to let a friend and trusted domainer make a buck or two off of a rational decision that I would have to make anyway?! DUH! Get a grip people! What comes around goes around in this small pond that we live in……
@Bob – Thanks! I appreciate the support much!
Bruce,
I’m glad to hear that we were able to help you out and get your site moved over quickly and easily. Thanks for the kind words and for being a customer!
Cheers,
Douglas
