Top 5 Posts From My Last 100 On BruceMarler.com
Well I was sitting here looking at my Wordpress admin panel wondering what to write today, there about 50 ideas swirling around and then I looked at my post number and it was 199 which means this is post #200. I got from 100 to 200 much faster than 1 to 100. I had just told Morgan last week when I hit each increment of 100 I would do a review of the last 100 posts and pick out my 5 favorites as a review so here we go, my top 5 posts from the last 100 I did:
Open Letter To Small Business Owners - This one has really done wonders since I posted it, this has become standard marketing material for us, albeit in a cleaned up form. I also have new customers who found it through various searches online and then contacted us.
Buying Domain Names For Investment Vs. Development - This post was inspired buy a conversation I had with a good friend about the thought process I go through when buying a name. Sometimes I have to where domainer hat, other days it is a developer hat.
Focus On What Could Be And Not What Is - This post is all about focusing on what the possibilities of a development or domain name is and not what you see right now, in otherwords focus on the what the business could be instead of just the name.
Why Small Business Should Advertise During Bad Times - This was inspired after seeing a local business start booming after they started spending on promotion rather than holding everything back due to the economy. There business is still booming BTW.
Stop Blaming The End Users It Is A Domain Industry Problem - OK, so obviously I knew the post would get some attention but not as much as it did, I am STILL getting questions and comments about it. Whether you agree with me or not the conversation that ensued in various places was very good and brought up new issues and concepts of promotion for the industry. Read the 50 plus comments and the post if you have not, the post is not so much mine anymore , there is a ton of info in the comments alone.
Well there they are. Thanks for continuing to read.
My Top 5 Favorite Posts As I Near 100 Blog Posts
As mentioned yesterday I am nearing 100 posts, yesterday I focused on listing several posts I was not real proud of, today I am going to highlight some that I found the most interesting to write or most pleased with after their completion. We are in the middle of upgrading offices after being in our "startup digs" for the last several months (I know that may upset some of the .ME haters) so I will also try to get a post in later today of pictures of our old offices and our new office.
Here is the list in no particular order:
Interview with XF.com Founder Aron Meystedt - Aron was the first interview on did and this led to several more, I plan to get back to doing more interviews here in the fairly near future. This is a post I wish I would of waited until I had a wider readership, there are some good nuggets of information here.
Why Do You Buy Domain Names - I think in many cases people do not step back and think about what type of business they are building, this post was based on helping people define what type of domain investor they are. I have shifted from passive income to site developer.
Screw The Economy And Go For It - I had so many emails come from people after this post, this one was a bit personal since I have, like most of us, many good friends going through situations described in this post.
Rural Newspaper Says Oh Crap - This post came towards the beginning of our launch and the story within it really showed us what the power of working with the mid and small tier cities could be.
Biggest Decision Of My Life - If you have read the post you know why, if you have not read it you will understand after reading.
And one bonus: Where The Heck Did Professionalism Go???
Getting back to the office move now, I am going to try to get a post out later with some pictures if we get organized in time.
