Enjoy The Office Christmas Party – Do Not Drink And Drive

A very non-domain name related post today but it is the time of the year that everyone heads out to their office Christmas party and has a bit too much egg nog and thinks they are just fine driving home. At that point they become a weapon on the streets and, well, threaten my children and everyone elses.

For the past 10 years I have worked from home for companies that were based elsewhere so I never had much to do with any office Christmas party. This year, even though we picked the date late, I will be attending an office Christmas party (tonight) and there will be plenty of adult beverages and fun. BUT, one thing I WILL NOT be doing is driving after drinking.

Yes I am preaching here, deal with it, if it bothers you then you are the person I am preaching too...

I am the first person who loves to party, I like a good time, I like my rum and Coke, a nice glass of wine, or maybe a beer or two but one rule I have had (since high school, and you can imagine I caught crap from it) is that I DO NOT drink and drive, even if I have had just one beer I will wait a period of time before I will drive.

Once you have children this really changes, when I think about some moron out there who has had way to much to drink, been partying it up at the office Christmas party, and then gets out on the road thinking they are ok because, you know they are cool and all and they can handle it. Well you cannot, it just takes one bad swerve into the other lane to KILL someones children because of your lack of maturity.

So, grow up, let someone else drive, and have a great time and let everyone come home safe and enjoy Christmas next week.
