@Jacob - LOL:) I know. In all seriousness the word we got from people as we launched and before launch is that .ME was much more memorable than the others, we have continued to hear that . Although we did pick up Missourime.com as a bit of protection.

@MikeZ - Wow, what a reaction from them!

@David - Yeah, you know I had heard of this happening before but first time I had direct witness to it. I am looking forward to getting this one completely developed. Then I can join you boys with Associated Cities:)

@George - LOL, best comment ever on the fair and balanced!

Your point is exactly right though, we have discussed:) It all comes down to cost vs benefit and in many cases the benefit is not worth the cost to acquire, even if you can acquire (based on other extensions use).

Hey now, I thought I was watching Fox News.....who asked for the fair and balanced journalism. Just kidding. No one ever denied that leakage (brand and link) doesn't exist. The question is whether or not it make business sense worrying about the leakage.

This happened to me as well. I own the dotCA version of a keyword domain. The dotCom version had links pointing to the dotCA. I used to get quite a bit of traffic from the dotCom site. That is until they discovered what was going on. When they did, they put up a notice on their site that it had been maliciously attacked by a competitor and that was why the links were taking them to my site!?!

I checked, and this dotCom owner never owned the dotCA. It was just a mistake by his developer I guess.

Yes... it's link leakage from someone who assumed the city used the .com site, much like someone who typos .com when he wants the .org, .net, .whatever. I bet Missouri.com is very happy you are developing Missouri.me. Hopefully the governor didn't go back after the bike race and tell everyone what a nice guy you are - the person who owns Missouri.com. :-)
