Although social networking is just another "application" on the web it is possible, and many people do not see or do not want to admit, it could become THE application on the web. I really think any news organization that lacks an understanding of the way the Internet really works and what search engines really do for them (i.e. drive traffic) really is missing the boat. Search is about finding what you want, it is the default place most people start their "Internet time", removing yourself from that is just a bad idea. I can sit there and read the words they say about why it is smart for them, but there is no way I can get past the legacy mind set of it. In otherwords, they are not trying to figure out how to work in the new world, they continue to try to force fit in the old world. News CORP should be stopped at all costs. News Corp, Faux News, and all the top media outlets need to be stopped in this day and age, otherwise disaster is heading our way.
