Google Adsense For Mobile Surprising In Just 24 Hours

Well, not something I planned on blogging about today but when I first installed the WPTouch Wordpress plug-in last night it was more for usability for mobile users than it was about monetization. When i configured the mobile plug-in there was a place that you could simply paste your Google Adsense publisher code to enable mobile Adsense. I did this not expecting much.

Well, this morning I woke up and did my morning check on stats and noticed that I had a few bucks from the mobile ads from my iPhone news aggregation site. I checked back a little bit ago and sure enough had another couple bucks. Not bad for a change that took me less than 2 minutes time.

What I think is really working in my favor here is that there is only one mobile ad being shown per pageview which means it is normally the highest CPC advertiser which in theory means the largest payout to me the publisher.

Moral to the story, if you are not using Google Adsense for Mobile along with a mobile Wordpress plug-in you may want to give it a shot. It may be a fluke (it has not been 24 hours yet) but not a bad start.

How many uniques or page views do you get?

I tried adsense for mobile on one of mine and I either
did it wrong, or it converts HORRIBLY :)

Glad you are having success so far, though :)

That was on 94 mobile ad impressions per Google stats. Lets hope it continues….. One thing that could be a factor is that this is a very mobile friendly community site. You know the name well:)

Not counting chickens yet but hopeful it continues. It may be a factor of the mobile theme being very CTR friendly as well.

  3. I’m trying out the mobilepress plugin — it’s definitely plainer looking than wptouch. And just inserted some mobile adsense code in my header. Giving it a go!

Jason, let me know how it goes. The WPTouch theme puts it at the bottom of each post page.

I am hoping each day is like this!

  5. This was an interesting article Bruce. I’ve been seeing a lot more visits to sites and domains from mobile devices for a few years. Some sites seem to be finding 10% coming from mobile devices.

Innevitable really. I think this is what a lot of .mobi supporters were talking about. Whether it becomes a wave off the back of .mobi is another thing, however, I am certainly finding an increase in type-ins to addresses like domain.mobi (If I’ve got it), or mobile.someexample.com or someexample.com/m/ or /mobile etc

Who’d a thunk? Maybe if you have a good .com which earns >10 times its reg, perhaps it’s worth getting the .mobi now. If not, it may be worth redirecting sub domains and /m/ and /mobile/ traffic to the root.

Im going to try it on my website so lets so how it will go..
