Flo.TV Uses dotTV During Superbowl Commercial
As someone who loves to see great uses and promotion of "alternative" domain extensions I thought, great job, to the Flo.tv team.
Their mobile TV device looks pretty nifty and obviously they spent some bucks on their superbowl commerical. It was great to see a promotion with .TV as the domain extension used.
dotTV is perfect for a company like that and shows that with the proper application using something alternative can work quite well.
On a side note, Flotv.com is the same company, different site. Yep, they chose the .TV to show in the commercial not the .COM.
As a gadget lover I will be digging into their product a bit more as well.

thats nice catch there. I personally interested in .tv names, and own few as well.
Really interesting news for the .TV web address. I just blogged about FLO.TV as well after seeing it advertised during first half of the Superbowl. GoDaddy commercial also aired in first half.
I have read your response. I think you have a point or two about mystery domain auction publicizing the domain industry to more people (if successful) but at the same time I am not sure if that will be a good form of publicity.
I will hope that you are successful and help domain industry become more main stream.
I am keeping my fingers crossed.
Qualcomm is a very smart company IMO, I have been following Flo.tv for awhile now, it is an interesting product.
Great news and the powers of branding. .tv, .me it dosent have to be .com
Was a great commercial imo and for business minded people, consumer seeing .tv.
Forum domain members who are either anti .tv or buzzed are clueless. The more powers behind .tv and awareness the better for .tv imo
I would use Flo.tv if I also owned Flotv.com because it’s failsafe. If a viewer mistakenly types in Flotv.com (and many will) they will still go to the same company. However, what looms larger here is that they don’t own Flo.com. If they owned Flo.com and went with Flo.tv it would speak volumes. The bottom line is they didn’t take any chances here.
It would be interesting to see how the traffic stats do for Flo.com
This was a great example use of .TV without a doubt, .TV is one of the extensions that if you are gonna use it the site/product has to fit. Kudos to them.
I believe that .Tv can be a strong brand. Fight.tv sold for $18000. I know godaddy was anti the .tv ccTLD for a long time, but I do think they are getting the message.
My domain toughman.tv goes to auction on bido friday at 2:18 est. I put it up for votes and someone sent it right to auction. There must be some demand out there.
So hopefully it goes well. Thank you Bruce for all of the Wordpress advise, it has helped me with some of my minisites. Continued success!
5% of my domains are .tv and I was happy to see that.
The real big key is will Oprah refer people down the line to Own.tv, that will be the biggest exposure ever for the .tv extension. We will see.
Now since Football is over, we can concentrate on what really matters, Basketball.
March madness coming up, the best time of the year!!!
Thanks, Jim
Thanks for the post Bruce. I always enjoy your analysis (you can tell, I can’t zip through it in the feed reader and have to save as new and come back and give it more thought). I also did a post on .tv and the Super Bowl http://bit.ly/cIvTzW and mentioned your site (you beat me certainly). http://www.CBSCares.tv was also a .tv ad.
Thanks for the mention!!!
I am really glad that .TV is seeing more branding out there. Perfect use of the extension!
thanx….i have 4 dot.tv domain…thats why i really glad to read this…
