Despicable Me – Great Movie with a Great Domain

As most of my readers are familiar with, we here at Localtek love to see great uses of a dotME domain name since we have launched our own site developments on them, such as Missouri.me.

Well, when I first heard about the movie Despicable Me many months ago and heard about the domain name they chose to use to promote their soon to be released movie I was happy to see a major motion picture company understand the power behind using .ME to promote their "brand", what did they use? Despicable.Me and then also they forward Despicableme.com to the .ME. As a fan of .ME I was happy to see the .ME domain being the one used to promote the movie though.

After getting past the techie and marketing side of my brain I realized that the movie actually looked like it would be rather entertaining to kids like me (OK people that still act likes kids such as me) and actual kids like my daughter (she is 9).

If you have not seen the marketing push behind this movie you have been hiding under a rock, the movie has been promoted relentlessly and they have over 172 thousand fans on their Facebook page. They have done a great job promoting this movie with social media as well as the standard TV trailers, etc.

As a big fan of The Office I was pleasantly surprised when early on I found out the move starred Steve Carell. He is one of my favorites of all time and my daughter was more than happy to see Miranda Cosgrove in the movie as well, she is a big fan of iCarly so we both get some of our favorite actors/actresses in this movie.

The movie is based around Steve Carell's character Gru who is pure bad and has a group of minions to help him in his evil ways. Once he runs into a group of three little girls he has met his match which is much tougher than any scheme he may have (such as stealing the moon), the girls soon see Gru as a father figure looking past his bad side.

I look forward to going to see this, it looks like a lot of fun and of course I will take my daughter with me.

Great to see a major motion picture using .ME to promote the movie, even though I would of went to see the movie anyway that sealed the deal.
