You captured discussions well...the example we spoke of will be one of the first tests of you new development tool! As you may recall, this example was a .info TLD. I do not normally purchase these, but like you said, for targeted development tied to a great name that drives search and branding, I think this can be just as successful if not more than the .com version of this name

Good post

@Andrew - Congrats on the success, and your comment is right on.

@Leonard - You are correct, there are some I would be hesitant, but in many cases if the majority of traffic is from SEO, brand marketing, or other creative ways .COM is not required.

As always, a disclaimer, a good portion of my names are .COM but that is because they are for investment, but when it comes to development my mind is much more open.

Yes, there are certain TLDs I would be hesitant to brand with but .COM asking prices are often in the stratosphere even when the traffic doesn't justify the price.

Great post Bruce and while I too agree that owning a generic .COM is the way to go, I also know first hand that have a non-generic and even a non-.COM can still be successful with great Internet marketing strategies such as SEO, PPC, Link Building, Social Media, Affiliate Marketing, etc.

I bought the non-generic domain FoodCouponsDirect.com for only $8 and using my SEO and internet marketing skills, the site ranks in the top 3 of google for a search on: food coupons....needless to say I am literally making $XX,XXX per year from the site.

So yes, if you are passionate about a topic/subject and have a keyword enriched domain name (.COM or not) you can still level the playing field and dominate the internet....

All the best,
Andrew
